He was stationed on Guam flying frequently to Tinian and Saipan in the Mariana Islands. Other flights were to Iwo Jima and Japan. He was responsible for the mechanical functioning of the aircraft. He supervised the ground crew and flew with the C-46 and B-17 aircrafts. Her parents were stressed trying to figure out how they would handle everything. She was worried and concerned for her brother, but also thinking of the impact this would financially have on her college journey. “I prayed to God for a way to afford school and care for my brother” she explains. That very next morning, she was awarded the 2013 Mary Ware Scholarship. “My brother passed in 2015 and my grades took a nosedive. I could no longer receive financial aid and had to take two years off to work full-time and save up money. I was then able to pay for the 2018 school year, but by 2019, funds were low again. Still denied financial aid, I reached back to the Mary Ware Scholarship. To my surprise, they were still willing to work with me and bless me with the financial assistance needed to complete my Bachelor of Business Administration degree - December 2020. Tiesha’s career focus is in healthcare human resources, and one day become a Licensed Christian Counselor. She explains, “Seeing others healed, set free, or getting proper treatment for their traumas and mental health conditions is crucial in a time such as this." She later received her master’s degree in school counseling from Georgia State University. Carol was a steward of her community. She served as a school counselor and touched the lives of many students through her work at Duluth High School, Westover High School, Walton High School, Kell High School, and Cherokee High School. She served on several advisory boards throughout her career and was awarded Counselor of the Year from Cherokee County in 2011. She was a family supporter of the National Marfan Foundation and an active member of Roswell United Methodist Church, serving on the Board of Stewards and worshiping with her beloved Bereans Sunday school class. Carol passed peacefully in her sleep after a 6-month battle with brain cancer on Sunday morning, January 27, 2019. Carol was 68 years old. We will remember Carol best for her optimism, her faith, her warm smile, her commitment to service, her southern hospitality, and her devotion to her family and friends. She was a trusted adviser, a dependable caregiver, a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and daughter. He was the dear uncle of Diana & John Wilcher, David & Louise Nauman; fond great-uncle of Blaise Brockelbank, Brittney Brockelbank, Alexis Nauman, Ashley Nauman, Katarina Wilcher and Stephanie Wilcher. Dennis worked in downtown Atlanta for Southern Bell and Chris taught first grade in Atlanta. While working in downtown ATL, Dennis earned his MBA in Finance at Georgia State University and then an engineering degree from Georgia Tech. They loved family and loved planning trips with the children and grandchildren to show them the USA and foreign lands. He loved trains and had traveled on the worlds most famous ones. She was known as the “daughter of Roswell” though all her community support. He served as the City of Roswell Attorney. They loved the church, Roswell United Methodist, where they were trustees, he was the charter president of the Methodist Men’s Club, and they were Sunday School teachers during the years. Keith went to Ohio University in Athens, Ohio and graduated in 1963 with a BS in Electrical Engineering and a MS in Electrical Engineering from Purdue.  Upon graduation, Keith was employed by Allis-Chalmers in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The family moved to Waukesha, Wisconsin and he began to work in electrical power systems. They met in high school, went to college apart, married, raised a family and simply enjoyed each other. Their hearts are HUGE! Keith was a gentleman that kept his cool under pressure and maintained a dry quick wit. He always committed to doing a great job at whatever he pursued and adapted well to all kinds of people. Keith is remembered as a quiet and kind person who always gave a friendly smile to everyone. Wilma is the sidekick full of wonderful conversation, stories and laughter. She has one of those sunshine personalities that welcomes everyone to her. She enjoys people and absolutely adores children. Her patience is off the charts! Together they lived a great loving partnership. It was the love they share for their adopted sons and birth daughter that inspired them to open an endowment and designate the earnings to the RUMC Counseling Center. “Keith and I witnessed the devastation addiction can cause to individuals and to their families. familiar invitation from the Bonds, and it only takes one encounter to become friends with them. No wonder their endowment supports spiritual outreach. Their warmth and kindness are so inviting that everyone is drawn to accompany them wherever they go. Ernie and Linda have been dedicated members of Roswell United Methodist Church since 1977 and active participants in the Bereans Sunday School class since the early years while expecting their first child. Linda spent years guiding children as an elementary school teacher specializing in reading/comprehension, where her talent for inspiring others through words truly shone. A graduate from Mercer University (BA) and Georgia State University (M.Ed.) and now a retired teacher, she dedicates herself to uplifting friends with thoughtful and lasting messages, adding brightness to any occasion. Ernie had a way of spreading joy with a calm glance and a gentle smile. His love for family was deep. He graduated from Emory University (BA - Geology, Delta Tau Delta president) and Georgia State University (MBA). He served in the Army National Guard of Georgia. Ernie was as a lay delegate to the North Georgia Annual Conference, served as a Stephen Minister and was on the Board of Stewards. He worked at AT&T in Federal Regulations his entire professional life. Linda and Ernie married in 1973 and have two children, Dawson (Emmy) Bond and Sarah (Richard) Shockley; and three grandchildren, Anderson Bond, Davis Bond and Mary Taylor Shockley. They both were seen around campus with big smiles and TONS of kind hospitality. She graduated from Edmund Burke Academy, the University of Georgia and received her Masters in Early Childhood Education from Georgia State University. She met her true love Phil in Savannah, GA, moved to Atlanta, GA and were married on May 21, 1994. After moving to Roswell in 1995, they raised two wonderful children, Katie and Duncan. Her faith was everything to her, a cornerstone of her existence. Together with Phil, they lived a life that was deeply rooted in their shared beliefs and parented with a Christ-centered approach, positively influencing those around them. Their commitment to their faith radiated an infectious joy that was felt by everyone they encountered. This joy stemmed from her profound love for the Lord, coupled with a vibrant zest for life that truly typified her character and highlighted what she meant to all of us. Family was her greatest passion and the cornerstone of her life. Each morning began with her cherished time spent with Katie and Duncan, where they would engage in delightful conversations about the manners of the day. She encouraged them to explore and find their own faith while providing unwavering support. Additionally, she was always on the lookout for ways to help them discover their own unique passions as they grew and matured. Her warm and inviting spirit inspired everyone around her, creating an atmosphere that made each individual feel as if they were part of her extended family. Doris was born to E.E. and Minnie Lee (Howie) Howington on September 16, 1920. In the early 60"s, she and her family relocated to Roswell from the Buckhead area to property that is now the site of the new Crabapple Middle School. Her two sons, Richard and David, attended Roswell schools. Doris attended Georgia State College for Women and Georgia State University, earning degrees at both. She worked for Eastern Airlines, and later worked for Dekalb College (Perimeter College) in their financial aid department. She credits her life experiences with being able to counsel and assist students. Roswell United Methodist Church has been the center of Doris' life since moving to Roswell. She was active on the Board of Stewards, Board of Trustees, teaching Sunday School, Seniors Enriched Living and any opportunity to volunteer. She has been an active volunteer at North Fulton Community Charities, the Drake House, and AARP, where she assisted in the Tax Aide Program and taught the safe driving course for seniors. An avid supporter of Georgia Tech, Saturdays found her cheering the Jackets from the stands. Her volunteer efforts for the Roswell Lions Club were many. RUMC provided nursery, childhood, and youth programs for the kids as they grew up. The adult Sunday school class “Builders” provided a collaboration of parents raising their kids, investing in their marriages, and growing their faith. They know it is their responsibility to learn and grow with Christ, always striving to do their best. Their story began on a double date, where Bob, a Buckhead native, found himself more interested in Woody, a Sandy Springs local, than his own date. One dance later, the rest was history. Woody often says she fell in love with Bob’s family before she fell for him. The couple married on March 19, 1966, and their journey together has been full of love, laughter, and service. In 1985, along with their daughter Ginger, they joined Roswell United Methodist Church and quickly became active members of the Bereans Sunday School class—a vibrant group that keeps them socially and spiritually engaged. Always eager to learn, Bob takes classes through Senior Enriched Living, while Woody shares her time and heart with the RUMC Kindergarten and Preschool and both attend regular Bible studies. Their passion for youth ministry deepened when their granddaughter Avery joined the RUMC Student Ministry and was awarded the 2021 Harry Hall Scholarship; this inspired Woody and Bob to open an endowment to benefit scholar funds for teens to experience missions. For over two decades, Bob and Woody have faithfully served at North Fulton Community Charities, taking regular Tuesday shifts. Bob has also participated in several mission trips with RUMC—Honduras being his favorite. Through their lives of faith and service, Bob and Woody hope to inspire others to embrace missions with the same heart and dedication. Her warm spirit and joyful presence made her fun to be around, and she brought love and laughter wherever she went. A devoted mother and grandmother, she gave endlessly to her family and those she cared about. Originally from Lake City, FL, she married Terris Hagan and raised two boys, Bob and Jay. There were so many silly shenanigans! The party continued with grandchildren Chad, Brooke, John and Terris Jr. She passed far too soon at the age of 68 after a battle with lung cancer, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and music. Music was a deep passion in her life—she played piano at church while growing up in Florida and carried that love into adulthood. She cherished RUMC and was especially devoted to the RUMC Worship Arts Ministry, where her heart for worship and community continued to shine brightly.
