"Growing up I was always the kid who went to church on Sunday's but never really thought about Christ the rest of the week. It wasn't till I was a confirmand that I started taking my faith a bit more seriously. I remember telling my grandfather how happy it made me to go to church and he offered to always drive me whenever I wanted. I started attending Sunday night youth and AYL because that is what everyone was doing. However, I didn't really have much of a faith because I was doing what I thought I was supposed to be doing, not because I felt it was right. Fast forward to about a year and a half ago I started attending high school bible study on Wednesday nights and I think it is the best decision I have ever made. Every week I am surrounded by other high schoolers who simply want to grow in their relationship with God. Often, we break up into small groups which allows everyone to be vulnerable with one another. The lessons I have learned and the other people there taught me that it is okay to not feel like your relationship with God is perfect. The other students have taught me that my relationship with God doesn't need to look like everyone else's for him to love me. My now great friends at bible study have helped me learn to trust God's plan even when it is hard, or I don't understand. I know that if I ever feel confused or lost I have a group of people I can talk it out with, and who will support me in my faith. While the high schoolers at RUMC have helped me grow in my faith and relationship with God, so have the middle schoolers. Even though I am a leader to a lot of the middle schoolers they have still taught me so much. They ask amazing questions that always make me think and I love hearing them give each other advice about their faith. I could not be more grateful that God put me in a position that I got to know each of their hearts. Being with them every Sunday has taught me that I want to continue”

”I started coming to RUMC when I left Roswell High and had no friends, my home life was rough, and I had no “home” anymore. I had always believed in God, but at this point in my life, I wondered where God was. The student ministry was like walking into a childhood home with all of my friends. There has not been one person there who has made me question my worth. The opportunities, friendships, all through my relationship with God. After spending so much time at church and learning about God, I realized that everything was in His plan. All of the nights I was crying and just hoping I wouldn’t wake up - it was God taking me to rock bottom, and showing me the light above, and showing me what love and happiness I deserved. RUMC taught me to thank God for the good, and for the bad, and that God saved me; so did RUMC.."

“For most of my life, I felt like a shadow, constantly trying to live up to others' expectations. From early struggles with learning disabilities to not making the sports team in high school, I often felt like a disappointment with no purpose. I questioned why these things were happening, feeling distant from God, despite my parents raising me to know His truth. During my junior year, I hit a low point, feeling disconnected from my faith. One night, after Sunday Night Youth, Ben, the Minister to Students at RUMC, pulled me aside and offered me an internship for the following year. I was confused and didn’t feel worthy, but Ben reminded me that I was “Loved, Valued, and Known by God.” For the first time in months, I felt seen and cared for. Ben showed me that my distance from God came from trying to handle everything alone and that I didn’t need to be perfect to approach Him. That night, I prayed, apologized for trying to do it on my own, and surrendered my life to God. I realized that my identity wasn’t in earthly things, but in the one who created me. The people at RUMC have loved and supported me, reminding me that God has a unique purpose for my life, and this has inspired me to love and serve others.”
