• JAMES "JAKE" HARMON | 2026 Harry L. Hall Scholar

    [BIO CONTINUED]

He was also named 2025 Georgia High School Athletics All Region Offensive Lineman and 2025 Atlanta Journal Constitution All North Metro Offensive Lineman, both at the center position. In his junior year, he was recognized as the Most Disciplined Player via the Hornet Award and received the Tom Zachary VIP Award — a Roswell High School tradition since 1999 honoring students who come to school, work hard, and uphold the values of respect and responsibility.

Throughout high school, Jake balanced these athletic and academic demands while working at Chick-fil-A and Paradise Grill — demonstrating the same reliability and work ethic in the community that he showed on the field.

Jake was selected for this scholarship because he is exactly the kind of person the Harry L. Hall Award is meant to celebrate — someone who leads by showing up, every time, for everyone around him. At RUMC, Jake served as a Youth Mentor and Confirmation Leader from 2023 to 2025, guiding middle school students through faith development and youth activities. He volunteered with Family Promise, helping prepare church facilities for homeless families and distributing gas cards to support their transportation needs. He helped prepare and deliver Thanksgiving meals through the Roswell United Methodist Thanksgiving Project and served on a Mission Trip to Alaska. Those who know Jake note that no matter what was on his calendar — a Friday night game, a Saturday practice — if there was a mission project on Saturday morning, Jake was there.

Jake has been a member of RUMC since kindergarten, where his mother was his Sunday School teacher in the Kid Zone. That early foundation — learning who God and Jesus are from the people closest to him — has only deepened over the years. It was in the youth group where Jake found the community that connected what he learned as a child to what he will carry into adulthood. Youth leaders Dr. Ben Mayfield and Jesse Adams began as his spiritual mentors and have become trusted friends. As Jake transitions from the youth department into adult membership, he looks to them — and to the broader RUMC community — for the accountability he knows he will need navigating college life and beyond.

Jake is the kind of person who makes every room better. He is a team builder, a faithful presence, and someone whose integrity speaks louder than any award.

The RUMC Foundation, Inc. recognizes Jake's accomplishments and is proud to honor him as a 2026 Harry L. Hall Scholar.
