Carol Baumgartner Family Endowment

Caregiving can be one of the most important jobs in a lifetime. It comes with great responsibility, stress and a lot of patience and love. And the demands are even greater when helping those with health conditions. Carol knew exactly what it is was like and she gave herself to all that was in need. The Carol Baumgartner Family Endowment helps provide funding support to the caregiver, be it transportation, medical or simply help with general needs to ease the load.

Do you know a caregiver that could use some relief?

Meet Carol Baumgartner

Carol was born on July 24, 1950 in Minneapolis, MN to Carolyn Duggan Hollis and Dr. Charles Hollis, Jr. She was a graduate of the Albany High School class of 1968 and received a psychology degree from Emory University in 1972. She later received her master’s degree in school counseling from Georgia State University.

Carol was a steward of her community. She served as a school counselor and touched the lives of many students through her work at Duluth High School, Westover High School, Walton High School, Kell High School, and Cherokee High School. She served on several advisory boards throughout her career and was awarded Counselor of the Year from Cherokee County in 2011. She was a family supporter of the National Marfan Foundation and an active member of Roswell United Methodist Church, serving on the Board of Stewards and worshiping with her beloved Bereans Sunday school class.

Carol passed peacefully in her sleep after a 6-month battle with brain cancer on Sunday morning, January 27, 2019. Carol was 68 years old.

We will remember Carol best for her optimism, her faith, her warm smile, her commitment to service, her southern hospitality, and her devotion to her family and friends. She was a trusted adviser, a dependable caregiver, a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and daughter. Hers truly was a life of service, and a life well lived.

Hear from those who knew her most.
