Supporting the RUMC Worship Arts
Due to a lifelong love of worship music, Dennis and Chris Love made RUMC an important part of their family. The RUMC Worship Arts helped them navigate important milestones of life together
Meet Dennis and Chris.
“I'll never forget the first service I attended at RUMC, in what is now the Chapel. Dr. Bill Floyd was the senior minister and he preached from the center with no microphone, yet you could hear every word. Bill was an amazing preacher, pastor and gentleman. I thank God that he led us to RUMC.” No matter how many times his work transferred him to other cities, they always made their way back to Cobb County and RUMC. “We are very long time members of RUMC. Both the church and Worship Arts programs have had a major influence on our lives there. We are forever grateful.”- Dennis Love

In the early 1970s and being a young married couple with their first child they looked for a Sunday School class at RUMC, but didn't find one that really suited them, with the guidance of pastor Dr. Bill Floyd, Dennis and Chris started a new one. They wanted a class that emphasized discussion; the Crosstalk Sunday School Class started and they are still a part of it today.

The newlyweds first lived in Jonesboro. Dennis worked in downtown Atlanta for Southern Bell and Chris taught first grade in Atlanta. While working in downtown ATL, Dennis earned his MBA in Finance at Georgia State University and then an engineering degree from Georgia Tech. After finishing his MBA degree, Dennis's employer moved them to Macon, GA for a couple of years, then back to East Cobb in 1972.

Chris and Dennis grew up in relatively small Methodist (later United Methodist) churches in Atlanta and Havre deGrace, MD. They met in Sunday School at her church while Dennis had just started two years in the Army and she was still in college at Goucher College in Baltimore. After his Army service in Korea and Aberdeen, MD we were married in her church.

Dennis joined the RUMC Sanctuary Choir, having previously sung in his home church choir, and in two others in Have de Grace and in Macon. Around 1979, Chris joined the Susanna Wesley and Celebration Ringers hand bell groups, and she still plays with the RUMC Celebration Ringers.

Traveling with their Crosswalk friends is one of their favorite pastimes. Featured here with Barney and Sandy Burroughs and Jack and Dian Stewart. It is the friends through the church that has meant so much to the Loves.
