Penny B. Monk Endowment
supporting the Noahs Ark Sunday School Class and other areas for adults with special needs
There is something profoundly heartwarming about adults with special needs. Their joy is contagious, and they remind us that the simplest things in life are often the sources of true happiness. The Penny B. Monk Endowment honors Penny Monk’s legacy by providing funding for the Noah’s Ark Sunday School class, where both students and volunteers learn the art of living joyfully, staying young at heart, and embracing love for one another.
Meet Penelope Monk
Obituary: With regret, we announce the passing of Penny Monk, beloved wife of retired ATL-based Delta pilot, Captain Gary Monk, who surrendered to cancer on Sunday, August 1. We are humbled by the challenge of recognizing the wonderful wife, mother, sister, teacher, and friend that she was. Her warmth and strength will be missed by many. Please keep Gary and the children, Cathi, Liz, Jennifer, and Cullen as well as their spouses and the grandchildren in your thoughts and prayers. There will be a Celebration of Life followed by a reception Friday, August 27 at 1pm at Roswell United Methodist Church (814 Mimosa Boulevard, Roswell, GA 30075).
More about the
Noah’s Ark Sunday School Class
Supporting Developmentally Disabled Adults, all ages
This special group of adults wins the award for the most enthusiasm for their class! They are excited about Jesus and showing their love and acceptance to each other. Whether by simple Bible story or a fun craft, these young adults to senior adults love to participate and learn together. Thirty years ago, forward thinking parents of children with special needs created the class because they wanted their children to enjoy a weekly, spiritual encounter as adults. From brunches to game days and Christmas parties, this group always enjoys fun, food, and fellowship. If you know of someone who would benefit from this class, contact Marsha Kennedy for more information.
Note: Class begins at 9:30 a.m.
